SCHADS Award Pay Rates 2026: Support Workers

Most NDIS support workers are covered by the SCHADS Award (MA000100). Underpaying staff is the fastest way to destroy your business.

Classifications (The Basics)

Level 1: No experience required (rarely used for direct care).
Level 2: Standard support worker (Personal care, domestic assistance). Current base rate approx $34.58/hr (Permanent).
Level 3: Experienced worker, handling complex needs or behaviour support.

Penalty Rates

You cannot pay a "flat rate" unless you have a registered IFA (Individual Flexibility Agreement) that passes the Better Off Overall Test (BOOT).
- Saturday: 150%
- Sunday: 200%
- Public Holiday: 250%

Allowances

Don't forget the First Aid Allowance (approx $20/week) and the Vehicle Allowance ($0.99 per km) if they use their own car for client transport.
