Australia Victoria Grants

The Victorian Government, through Business Victoria, provides targeted support for small businesses. In 2026, the focus is heavily on sustainability, digital upgrades, and regional economic development. Unlike federal programs, many Victorian grants are non-competitive (first-come, first-served), so speed matters.

If you operate in Victoria, here are the programs you should be checking.

1. Small Business Digital Adaptation Program

This popular program offers rebates of up to $1,200 to help businesses access digital tools. This can often be used to cover the cost of subscribing to Xero, Shopify, or upgrading your website.

Eligible expenses include:

How to claim: This is a reimbursement-based rebate. You pay for the service first, then submit receipts through the Business Victoria portal. Processing typically takes 4–6 weeks.

Pro tip: If you're switching to Xero, the annual subscription cost ($65/month = $780/year) is almost fully covered by this rebate. Combine it with our setup service for maximum value.

2. Solar for Business Rebates

With energy costs rising, Solar Victoria offers rebates of up to $3,500 for small businesses to install solar panel systems. This is a direct reduction in the upfront cost of installation.

Key eligibility criteria:

Tax benefit: The remaining cost of the solar system (after the rebate) can be claimed as an instant asset write-off under the $20,000 threshold, or depreciated over time. We ensure it's correctly recorded in your Xero asset register.

3. Small Business Bus and Mentoring

Business Victoria runs free one-on-one mentoring sessions with experienced business advisors, both online and through their travelling "Small Business Bus." While not a cash grant, the value of a free 90-minute session with a financial advisor, marketing strategist, or business coach is significant.

Topics covered:

Sessions can be booked through the Business Victoria website. Regional locations are prioritized, but metro sessions are also available.

4. Ready for Growth Program

This program targets high-growth Victorian businesses (typically $500k–$5M turnover) with ambitions to scale. It provides:

Who should apply: If you've been growing at 15%+ per year and are hitting capacity constraints (staffing, systems, cash flow), this program can help you break through to the next level without expensive consulting fees.

5. Regional Jobs Fund

If your business is located in regional Victoria (e.g., Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Shepparton, Warrnambool) and you are planning a project that will create new full-time jobs, you may be eligible for grants of $50,000 to $500,000.

Eligibility requirements:

Application requirements: A detailed business plan, 3 years of financial statements, cash flow projections, and evidence of co-funding. We prepare grant-ready financials that meet the assessor's standards.

6. Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) Program

This often-overlooked program provides discounted or free energy-efficient upgrades for businesses, including:

The program works through accredited providers who claim Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs) on your behalf, passing the savings on to you. It's available to all Victorian businesses regardless of size.
